Understanding Food Noises
One of the most talked about topics of our modern times is overeating and obesity which are associated a with wide range of mental health issues.
Recently, new types of medication (such as GLP-1 agonists Ozempic and Mounjaro) became widely available for people wishing to lose weight. Their main mode of action is to quieten “food noises”, leading to eating less. These drugs are very effective, but there are some concerns around their use, especially after finishing the course.
If the “food noises” are simply muted by a drug, they will not be dealt with and there is a higher chance that they will reappear.
I believe that more psychological support should be given to patients taking these drugs or anyone on a weight loss journey.
I believe the disturbing food noises are unique to everyone. Identifying and managing our own individual “food noises” could help to lose weight with or without the support of the weight loss drugs.
I offer counselling for people who wish to identify their own “food noises’ in order to understand their origin and emotional connections.
